Alabama Second Ecclesiastical Jurisdictional Prelate
Philip A. Gardner, Sr.
was born in Mobile, Alabama on February 14, to the union of Joseph and Laura
Gardner. He was saved in 1953 and was called to the ministry in the same year.
He has been active in the ministry for 58 years.
He is the pastor of Mason Memorial Temple Church
of God in Christ located at 2157 Government Street, Mobile, Alabama. Mason
Memorial Temple was founded by the late Bishop J. M. Bailey. Elder Gardner
served under his pastorate and tutorage. In 1973, he was appointed as the pastor
(by Bishop W. S. Harris) of Mason Memorial Temple Church of God in Christ.
Through Elder Gardner’s
insight, ingenuity, and God-given vision, the Mason Church Family purchased the beautiful edifice where they now worship.
Elder Gardner was appointed Jurisdictional Bishop over the Second Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of Alabama Church of God in Christ in April 2001. God has blessed the people of this jurisdiction because of this great Man of God. Alabama Second Jurisdiction continues to grow under his leadership.
Bishop Gardner inspires the spirit of brotherly love, spiritual growth, and training. He is affectionately known as the “Mobile Express”. He is a sought out speaker that God is using in these last days to minister to hurting people.
He is married to Mrs. Lena Burroughs Gardner. He is the father of two children, the late Philip Gardner, Jr. and Faye Gardner-Cunningham and the grandfather of one granddaughter, Paris Gardner.
